Effective July 14, 2025
This WhatsApp Business App United States Regional Privacy Notice ("Notice") is for people living in the United States and supplements our WhatsApp Business App Privacy Policy. It explains how we, WhatsApp, collect, use, and disclose your Personal Information. It also describes how to exercise your rights under the various U.S. privacy laws (collectively, the “U.S. Privacy Laws”).
I. Scope of this WhatsApp Business App United States Regional Privacy Notice
This Notice applies to the Business Functions described in our WhatsApp Business App Privacy Policy. For Main App Functionality, as defined in our WhatsApp Business App Privacy Policy, review the United States Regional Privacy Notice. This Notice applies only to the extent that your data is considered personal information under the WhatsApp Business App Privacy Policy and applicable laws.
II. What is Personal Information, what does WhatsApp collect, and from what sources?
For this Notice, "Personal Information" means information that identifies, relates to, describes, is reasonably capable of being associated with, or could reasonably be linked with you, directly or indirectly. Personal Information does not include information that cannot be reasonably linked to you. When data is deidentified (as defined under U.S. Privacy Laws), we maintain it in deidentified form and do not attempt to reidentify the information. We do not “share” your Personal Information, as that term is defined in the California Consumer Privacy Act (“CCPA”). We also don’t sell any of your Personal Information, and we never will.
In addition to the information described in the applicable United States Regional Privacy Notice, we collect the following information:
Information You Provide
- Your Business Account Information. In addition to your phone number, you must provide basic information about your business to create a WhatsApp business account, including your business name and business category. If you don’t provide us with this information, you will not be able to create an account to use our WhatsApp Business App. You can add other optional information to your business account, such as a profile picture and cover photo; contact information like your business address, business email, and website; a description of your business and any products or services you offer (such as their names, descriptions, images, videos, prices, and related marketing materials); and your intended audience.
Automatically-Collected Information
- Usage and Log Information. We collect information about your use of the Business Functions. For example, we collect information about your business profile settings; how you use Business Functions like catalogs, labels and quick replies; purchases and transactions with your business; and metrics related to how customers interact with your business.
Other Sources of Information
- User Reports, Feedback, Preferences and Blocks. Users can report, submit feedback, set communication preferences, or block businesses on WhatsApp, which we associate with the business that is the subject of the report, feedback, preference, or block.

III. How do we use Personal Information?
We use the information we collect for the same purposes described in the United States Regional Privacy Notice, and also to operate, provide, improve, understand, customize, support, and market our WhatsApp Business App and Business Functions.
Here's how:
- Our WhatsApp Business App. We use the information we have to operate and provide our WhatsApp Business App and Business Functions, including providing you with business support; providing onboarding tools; providing message creation and delivery tools; providing you new and premium Business Functions (some of which may be offered by third parties and/or Meta); and improving, fixing, and customizing our WhatsApp Business App. We also use information we have to understand how you use our WhatsApp Business App; evaluate and improve our WhatsApp Business App; research, develop, and test new services and features; and conduct troubleshooting activities. We also use your information to respond to you when you contact us.
- Safety, Security and Integrity. In addition to the safety, security and integrity purposes described in the WhatsApp Privacy Policy, we also use the information we have to maintain safety, security and integrity on our WhatsApp Business App, for example: to create quality and integrity inferences about businesses; secure WhatsApp systems and WhatsApp Business App users’ accounts; fight threats, abuse, or infringement activities; promote safety, security, and integrity on the WhatsApp Business App; and to ensure compliance with our terms and policies.

IV. How is Personal Information disclosed?
You share and we disclose information as described in the United States Regional Privacy Notice, as well as in the following ways relevant to the Business Functions:.
- Information About Your Business Profile. Business profile information is publicly available, including your business name, phone number, hours of operation, business category, address, email address, website(s), description, and Facebook and Instagram accounts (if added). We may provide ways for our users to find or reach you, like our Business Search or other search functionality.
- Other Integrations. We allow you to connect the WhatsApp Business App to products and services offered by third parties and/or Meta. These can include for example: cloud storage and hosting services; customer relationship management tools; ad and message creation, delivery and management services; business analytics services; and AI tools. When you use these products or services, their own terms and privacy policies will govern your use of those services and products.
- Meta Companies. Review the United States Regional Privacy Notice to understand how we work with the other Meta Companies for the WhatsApp Business App.
- Assignment, Change Of Control, And Transfer. In the event that we are involved in a merger, acquisition, restructuring, bankruptcy, or sale of all or some of our assets, we will disclose your information with the successor entities or new owners in connection with the transaction.

VI. How can you exercise your rights under the U.S. Privacy Laws?
Depending on where you live and subject to certain exceptions, you may have some or all of the following rights:
- Right to Know: The right to request that we disclose to you the Personal Information we collect, use, or disclose, and information about our data practices.
- Right to Request Correction: The right to request that we correct inaccurate Personal Information that we maintain about you.
- Right to Request Deletion: The right to request that we delete your Personal Information that we have collected from or about you.
- Right to Non-Discrimination: The right not to receive discriminatory treatment for exercising your privacy rights.

Under certain U.S. Privacy Laws, you may designate an authorized agent to make these requests on your behalf. If you use an authorized agent to submit a request, we may need to collect additional information, such as a government issued ID, to verify your identity before processing your request to protect your information. In most cases, we will facilitate your request through automated tools available through your WhatsApp account.
