Healthylicious

Sisters Kiran Harjani and Monica Porwal were foodies who had lived in different parts of the world. When their friends asked them to cater for a party the duo began considering catering to a larger audience. They observed that people who led busy lives were looking for healthy food, and thus began the journey of Healthylicious, which started in 2017 with Kiran and Monica making healthy and delicious salads out of their homes in Bengaluru.

“Eating salads is not just one of the simplest habits you can adopt, but also the healthiest. Rich in vitamins, healthy salads can prevent diseases and create youthful energy,” says Kiran.

Healthylicious delivers as early as 6:30 a.m. so that people can carry their salads to work. They use fresh vegetables and seasonal fruits, flax seeds, sesame seeds and super foods like coconut, cranberries, avocado, and almonds, and substitute white sugar with honey, jaggery, and demerara sugar.

From catering to a few houses to now sending out salads to multiple locations in Bengaluru, they found it difficult to take individual orders, so they began using WhatsApp. They created groups based on customers’ locations. Every week, a planned menu goes up on the group with a description and visual.

WhatsApp also helped them increase sales and get improved feedback

“Through WhatsApp, we have been able to connect with 200 people and the best part is we don't need to advertise,” says Kiran.

They use WhatsApp to order ingredients by sending suppliers photos of what they need. WhatsApp also helped them increase sales and get improved feedback.

“Delighted moms message us on WhatsApp to say that their little ones wiped out the complete salad and left none for them,” Kiran says. “Creating healthy eating habits for kids has been a most memorable customer experience.”
