As a Product Manager, you will be involved in every aspect of the product development process, from brainstorming the next product innovation to working directly with designers and engineers to implement features. You will practice your product and design craft, and your full range of product development skills to produce elegantly simple features. You’ll be expected to push the boundaries of what a great communication utility looks like across traditional and emerging device trends, while sharing our healthy obsession for quality and attention to detail. The Broadcast team within WhatsApp takes care of the Status (i.e., Stories) and Channels products on the Updates tab of the app, which are used by a large share of our userbase every day as they stay up to date with the information that matters to them. Our focus is on shipping easy to use and highly reliable product features which solve clear user problems across the world. If you join us, you get to work with a high-performing cross-functional team of product managers, software engineers, product designers, data scientists, product marketing managers, data engineers, and user researchers which is expanding significantly in London to take on new challenges. We are looking for a motivated Product Manager to come in and take ownership of specific areas where you will set out the strategy, define the goals, launch new features, track progress, and lead the team.
Gain a deep understanding of user needs and motivation, to inform the product direction. You will work closely with the user research team.
Define the strategy for your product areas and socialize it across the organization.
Lead the roadmapping process every 6 months.
Work closely with your team to design new features and improve existing ones. Ensure these features are simple, private, and reliable. Strike a balance between completeness vs time to market. Create alignment with Legal, Policy, Comms, and other functions. Work with product marketing to launch them with a comprehensive go-to-market plan.
Track product usage, fully understand the metrics, and work closely with data science to run experiments
Build trust with your closest partners, such as the product designer, engineering manager, and other team leads.
Monitor team health and performance, proactively suggesting improvements to ways of working and getting buy-in for changes.
Clearly communicate plans, changes, and learnings to a broad group of key stakeholders.
Collaborate with other product engineering teams at WhatsApp to ensure a consistent and simple user experience.
Significant experience working as a Product Manager or with significant relevant Product related role experience
Experience reasoning from first principles and making decisions with minimal data
Experience building and scaling consumer products
Experience developing products that scale across mobile and desktop platforms
Experience crafting simple user experiences and executing them from start to finish
Experience working in or interest in emerging markets
Enthusiasm for and/or a frequent user of WhatsApp
Experience with social consumer products.
Ability to find focus and scale impact in highly distributed and matrix-based organizations.
