We are looking for an experienced UX Research Manager with excellent leadership, communication, and partnership skills to deliver amazing products and experiences for our 2.4Billion users globally. As a leader in WhatsApp, you will lead a talented and experienced team of quantitative and qualitative UX researchers. What makes a good candidate? Someone who has a breadth and depth of research skills - who understands the balance and trade-offs between scrappy and rigor, and ultimately how research translates into design and product recommendations and decisions. It's not enough to answer interesting questions about user behavior; our team focuses on impact. You and your team will define, support and then operationalize user needs into use cases and partner with designers and developers to create valuable, innovative software experiences. We are looking for candidates with experience in guiding a research team to develop generative, iterative, and evaluative research plans – you must be familiar with every aspect of the product development lifecycle, including early (first principles) research and discovery, definition, and analysis of requirements. You must become a trusted, strategic partner to product stakeholders by communicating and demonstrating the value of user research, and by delivering insights that lead to measurable business value. You contribute to design and strategic discussions and be an overall expert in the relationship between research, design, engineers and product. You are excited to do hands-on research and work with your team closely on challenging issues. You build strong relationships with other research teams at Meta to ensure a cohesive and cross-functional vision for Research at Meta.
Leads the team to define clear strategy and vision for keeping WhatsApp users safe on the platform from harms like spam, scam, negative commercial experiences, illegal purchases like guns or child exploitative imagery, money laundering and terrorist activities
Understands how investigative techniques and longitudinal harms detection in WA can lead to harms reduction in private messaging contexts
Co-lead the design of WhatsApp's Customer Satisfaction measurements and top level success metrics with Data Science as outcomes of successful prevention
Identify and prioritize short-term and long-term research that delivers impact
Passionate about build and scaling a 0-1 product and hold the team accountable to ship high-quality products
Skilled at understanding and incorporating systemic thinking at platform level in product solutions
Influence product strategy and roadmapping through your team’s insights and frameworks
Hiring, developing, and retaining talent. Can lead senior level Quantitative and Qualitative Researchers in this domain to solve ambiguous problems
Build and grow strong relationships between your team and partner teams (UX design, software engineering, etc.) to create a full picture of end users’ experience
Effectively communicate findings and recommendations to engineering, data, design, policy and leadership stakeholders
8+ years industry experience in management or leadership roles leading large teams.
MS in HCI, Cognitive Psychology, Neuropsychology, Human Factors, Cultural Anthropology, Survey Science, Data Analysis, Behavioral Modeling, Trust and Safety or a related field or equivalent years of experience in the industry
Mentorship experience with leading an organization at various levels from interns to staff researchers
World class survey scientist / quantitative / mixed methods researcher with background in cross-cultural data analysis (including triggered surveys, annual satisfaction surveys, Customer Satisfaction surveys etc.)
Experience in building, tracking and deprecating large scale quantitative quality and satisfaction measurement frameworks that are used across the company
Demonstrated experience in fostering creativity and innovation in large teams
Experience with user safety, privacy and online harms
Experience in global markets
