Languages are key to the WhatsApp Customer Operations mission to “Make each user feel like WhatsApp is built for them”. The Localization team makes WhatsApp feels like a local product by building high quality localized experiences into more than 60 languages. We are looking for a Localization Manager to lead a team of localization program managers responsible for the localization of WhatsApp Product, Support and Marketing content and for building new frameworks to operate at scale.
Lead and enable a high-performing team of localization program managers to deliver on operational and strategic goals, enabling global product launches and evolving teams operational maturity models
Establish team goals and work with direct reports on strategies for executing, tracking progress, measuring success and sharing results
Track and analyze key operational and performance metrics, identify trends, and develop solutions to improve efficiency, optimize team workflows and build supply/ demand models
Develop and maintain strong partnerships with global cross-functional teams and leaders across Customer operations, Product, Engineering, and Marketing
Be an internal advocate for the global WhatsApp user base, build and promote launch readiness best practices for global product launches
Promote a collaborative team culture that is passionate about user experience and sustainable and scalable business practices
Promote team’s personal and career development. Support your reports with empathy in navigating change as business needs, priorities and processes evolve
Track record of creating structure across large, ambiguous programs and directing teams on goals setting and prioritization
BA/BS degree or equivalent experience
Track record of developing and managing localization or content operations programs to deliver global products, content and experiences through innovation and continuous improvement
4+ years of experience in software localization, localization program or quality management
2+ years of direct people management experience, including managing remotely across multiple sites, and influencing leadership and cross-functional teams
Experience with analyzing data sets and interpreting them to solve complex problems, provide business insights and make strategic decisions
1+ years experience using WhatsApp
Familiarity with hardware localization, gaming localization or extended reality
Hands-on experience with different CMS and TMS platforms, file formats and CAT tools that manage and/or automate the translation workflow
Experience articulating localization value and impact on user experience, brand and product success to a variety of stakeholders and leadership levels
Experience with SQL, data analysis, data visualization tools, or programming languages
