As the VP of Data Science & Research you will oversee Data Science, Data Engineering, and Research teams for WhatsApp. In our journey of learning through rigorous methods, we are looking for an experienced leader to drive data-informed product and business decisions for WhatsApp, pulling these various functional teams together to deliver insights into what people need. This person will build organizational processes and structure for scale, as well as help set the culture of Data Science & Research within the organization. We are looking for high level executive communication and strategic thinking as well as strong east west collaboration.
Partner with leadership teams across product and research organizations to build and strengthen a data-inspired culture where we are bringing innovative data insights into the key decisions for product success.
Inspire, lead and grow a globally distributed team including data scientists, data engineers, and researchers.
Build organizational processes and structure for scale including recruiting, new hire onboarding, team operating rhythm and people programs.
Build strong cross functional relationships in order to strengthen data culture and analytics team integration into key product and Go to Market processes.
Be proactive with asking questions, ensuring that the right questions are being answered with appropriate level of rigor and that analyses lead to clear and actionable recommendations and impactful product and business changes.
Be an advocate for the global WhatsApp user.
15+ years of work experience managing analytics teams, working collaboratively with Product and Go-to-Market teams, and guiding data-influenced product and business planning, prioritization and strategy development.
Demonstrated experience in hiring, retaining and scaling diverse, geographically dispersed, high-performing teams.
Proven experience influencing strategy and driving change across org boundaries through clear and compelling communication of data-driven insights and analyses.
Experience with driving analytics and research for a brand-new or rapidly scaling business or product line.
Experience developing social products, technologies and platforms.
