WhatsApp is looking for a Communications Manager to join the team in EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa). The successful candidate will devise and implement proactive communications campaigns in key markets across the region in support of WhatsApp’s overarching communications goals. These proactive campaigns, pitches and toolkits will drive awareness and education about WhatsApp for consumers and businesses in the region, as well as supporting marketing, product and business goals. We are looking for someone who brings strong relationships and experience with consumer and lifestyle media, who has a proven track record of devising and executing high-profile, creative campaigns across regions, and also of amplifying marketing and product narratives. The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills and will be experienced in XFN working across complex organisations.
Support the communications strategy for WhatsApp in EMEA to drive brand love for WhatsApp, promote WhatsApp’s use in social impact initiatives, educate consumers about WhatsApp’s products and safety features, and promote WhatsApp’s tools for businesses, while underlining our commitment to the privacy and security of our users
Devise and execute proactive consumer communications campaigns, toolkits and pitches, using all available comms levers (earned, owned, influencers, partnerships etc) in WhatsApp’s top tier markets and also deliver scalable campaigns for execution across the region
Manage external PR agencies across EMEA to support these efforts
Develop and maintain relationships with media, influencers and opinion leaders
Work with cross-functional teams across EMEA and California / New York
Support WhatsApp EMEA’s programme of internal communications activities
6+ years of professional experience in communications and public relations in the UK and/or EMEA region
Experience working with tech, corporate, and mass consumer media including a track record of developing creative campaigns that have achieved their goals
A well-organised team player who has proven abilities to plan and deliver multi-country campaigns by working collaboratively with a range of stakeholders in cross-functional teams
Excellent communications and decision-making skills
Degree in communications, journalism, a social science or related field
Professional PR experience in either agency or in-house environments
Second European language a bonus (French, German, Spanish or Italian)
