WhatsApp is seeking an exceptional individual to serve as a Business Development Manager for our business in India. If you are a highly motivated team player who has experience in business and product strategy, has a strong bias for action and rolling up your sleeves to get things done, and wants to unlock the potential of WhatsApp to serve millions of businesses, we would be excited to hear from you. This role is focused on growing our business on WhatsApp which serves mid and large sized clients globally. The ideal candidate will have strong business development experience, preferably in commerce focussed SaaS solutions, especially in business development or strategic alliances/ partnerships oriented roles with direct ownership for driving goals/outcomes. The role requires both building and delivering success with our key clients via showing them the vision and opportunity with WhatsApp for their commerce strategy, building & providing right solutions based on business needs, joint planning and driving execution through cross functional teams and external partners. The candidate will possess proven skills around Business Development, Sales, Customer Management and an ability to effectively influence & communicate with senior levels of management. The candidate will thrive in a team-oriented environment, working with the Product, Marketing, Operations and Engineering teams to develop new ways we can improve the Commerce solutions on WhatsApp Business Platform. The role is based in Bangalore/ Mumbai.

Responsibilities

  • Builds relationships with senior decision makers across business, technical, marketing to gain mindshare on WhatsApp as a strategic platform for Commerce. Develops a comprehensive understanding of customer's business needs and strategies and offers solutions on WhatsApp as a platform. Creates trust to influence for impact and acts as a trusted advisor to help the customer transform their business.

  • Develops comprehensive strategy for identified customers & partners across verticals, aligns resources and key stakeholders towards the plan and drives execution to deliver on expected goals for the business. Engages extended team and embraces partners to scale business. Leverages strong sales acumen to set action items and approach to drive big bets and drive new business opportunities based on customer strategy and priorities..

  • Actively seeks customer feedback (both formal and informal) around the solutions, effectiveness of the same in growing customers business, overall drivers of satisfaction and/or dissatisfaction. Engages Support & Engineering teams to address issues, determine the root cause of problems, remove blockers, and improves customer's overall experience.

  • Develops compelling, value-proposition presentations (e.g., with the use of business cases) and specialized business plans for customers that drive business outcomes. Demonstrates thought leadership and presents business plans to customers to generate new opportunities.

  • Along with cross-functional teams, creates, maintains and influences relationships with key ecosystem players in the country to help establish WhatsApp platforms value

  • Provides feedback to product and engineering teams to identify product gaps that can help open new, large markets

Minimum Qualification

  • Strong BD, sales and business background, with 10+ years of experience

  • Possess executive maturity, presence and experience in building trust with senior decision makers and articulating business value to key decision makers

  • Experience in leading and driving the entire sales cycle, orchestrating virtual selling teams where necessary, leveraging repeatable offerings that maximize revenue and increase customer satisfaction

  • Experience operating autonomously across multiple teams, demonstrated critical thinking, and thought leadership

  • Analytical and problem-solving experience with large-scale systems

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
