WhatsApp is seeking an exceptional individual to lead our strategy and approach in Indonesia, including products and initiatives for people and businesses. This is a senior leadership position that requires product experience as well as a track record of success leading partnerships and business development in Indonesia. This leader will need to build a close partnership with product and engineering teams to influence direction and to effectively represent WhatsApp’s long term strategy. You should be equally comfortable working with product and engineering leaders as you are building relationships and negotiating with partners. You should also expect to handle day-to-day operations to support efforts with key partners in market, develop and execute on strategic partner initiatives and build relationships with other key constituents in market. You are passionate about technology, a heavy user of WhatsApp products and a self-starter who has demonstrated success. This is a full-time position based in Jakarta and reporting to WhatsApp’s VP of Global Public Affairs.
Responsibilities
Build and execute a strategy that expands WhatsApp usage and revenue in country
Represent WhatsApp publicly and with senior clients, government policymakers, regulators, consumer and civil liberties advocates and other stakeholders in country
Build and lead a cross functional team to deliver against country objectives. Functions you will either manage directly or invest in and influence through an aligned strategy include Business Development & Partnerships, Policy, Marketing, and Communications
Deeply understand WhatsApp Values, Product and Policies to create a strategy to achieve our priorities in country
Minimum Qualification
18+ years of experience in product driven companies
Proven ability to leverage and build relationships with key external and internal stakeholders, business leaders, government officials and policy leaders
Proven experience initiating and successfully driving local business opportunities within a global product
Strong general management experience, with proven track record leading and driving execution across cross functional teams, delivering on multiple time-sensitive projects simultaneously, and experience advising teams and senior executives on local matters
Experience communicating effectively, collaborating and influencing strategically at all levels, with ability to clarify and summarize complex issues
B.S. or M.S in Engineering/Sciences/Business
Proficiency in Bahasa Indonesia and English language, both written and verbal, is essential as the role will liaise extensively with WhatsApp leadership and local stakeholders in Indonesia
Preferred Qualification
Experience as country or regional leader in a global company
Experience in real-time messaging systems, payments systems or cloud infrastructure
Business development experience
Experience working in a start-up environment
